Love Music? Get Down At The Dorset County Show!

Whether it’s a bit of gentle toe-tapping or a full-on barnstormer you’re after, this year’s show is getting the party started with a great line-up of music to suit all tastes. Grab yourself a suitable drink, find a patch of grass and enjoy!

  • Woody the roaming One Man Band is a one-man virtuoso. He has a whopping collection of instruments include mandolin, banjolele, ukele, spoons, bones, harmonica and various guitars. The two questions we’re asking is 1) whose bones are those? and 2) how many instruments can he play at once? Woody’s distinctive, bluesy style will really make you kick back and chillax – especially if you have a cheeky cider in your hand (!).

  • From blissed-out blues to silly grins, back by popular demand are the New Forest Yokels. No agricultural show would be complete without a foot-stomping, straw-chewing sing-a-long. Legends in their own farmyards, band members including Mucker Mike, Compost John and Rustic Rex will be playing hit songs from their repertoire such as Drink up Ye Cider and Cider Drinker. And you can probably guess where to find them – that’s right, they’ll be in the Dorset Brewing Company’s Tent (where else?).

  • If sophistication’s what you’re after, maybe a 25 piece silver band is your cup of tea? Durnovaria (the Latin name for Dorchester) will bring a different note and a very big sound to the Show. Who could be better to bring some decorum and a sense of occasion in this, the Show’s 175th anniversary year?  Expect at least 25 brass players, plus percussion and a performance of rousing, popular numbers which will definitely get your toes and maybe other body parts moving.  See Durnovaria in the countryside Area.

Dancing and general joining in will be expected and encouraged, so get ready to get on down at this year’s show. See you there!
