The Dorset Food Hall is now the most frequented attraction at the Dorset County Show, with up to 40,000 people grazing their way through a cornucopia of delicious Dorset delicacies from fresh, locally caught sea food to hand-painted truffles and juicy barbecued venison burgers.
The organisers are delighted to offer artisanal producers from the county an opportunity to showcase their exceptional talents to such a large audience.
Richard Cuzens, Dorset County Show Secretary 2015 comments:
‘Many start-ups who make their first major business commitment by taking a stand in the Dorset Food Hall have very often turned out to be the stars of the future. It’s really satisfying to know that they gave us the first bite of the cherry and that the Dorset County Show gave them a step up the ladder.’
Ascending stars to look out for in the Dorset Food Hall this year include:-
Delicious palatable English Sparkling wine and a recent winner of the prestigious Vintners Trophy at the English and Welsh Wine of the year Competition. It is made to the same traditional method as Champagne on ideal Dorset ‘Terroir’ that closely matches that of Champagne. According to Daniel Ham, Winemaker at Langham Wine Estate ‘A vintage bottle of our sparkling wine will give a similar vintage brand such as a Moet & Chandon a real run for its money on taste but at half the price.’
The Chocolate Arthouse
The Chocolate Arthouse offers a collection of exquisite home-made, hand painted chocolates. Founder, John Tyldesley’s dedication to his art has recently won him a highly prestigious 3 Gold Star Award at The Great Taste Awards. John is delighted and commented: ‘Winning the Great Taste Awards has already opened doors. We have a meeting with the confectionery buyer at Selfridges in September so watch this space!’
Winner of the Champion British Organic Cider Cup at the Bath & West Show earlier this year is Dorset Nectar’s Old Harry Rocks – a vintage 6% cider. Founding partner, Penny Strong commented ‘We are delighted at the result, given that there were over 650 cider makers competing from across the world. ‘Our customers just can`t get enough of our cider so this year we`re almost doubling production this harvest season to meet demand!’
The Dorset County Show takes place on the 5th & 6th September.
