This year sees the culmination of the Society’s 175th anniversary. Around the Showground you will see various displays and competitions to mark this occasion, ranging from heritage bulbs in the Horticulture tent to hand milking in the Cattle section.
We need your help to gather up any photographs, posters, leaflets, rosettes, trophies, badges, letters, press cuttings—IN FACT ANYTHING from the Society’s history.
The Society wants to stage an exhibition at this year’s Show of items from the last 175 years— we can copy things, look after things and yes they will be VERY SAFE—guarded 24 hours a day with someone inside the exhibition day and night!
PLEASE—search through your lofts, those history drawers and if you think that you have something that might be interesting ring the office, email us, drop in—WE NEED YOUR HELP. There are already a few interesting pictures , press cuttings etc.
The Show Secretary is offering a bottle of champagne to the owner of the oldest artefact on display!
Dorset must have many items stashed away—please dig them out for everyone to see.
