Shaun Ellis 'Wolf Man'
This year we welcome wolf and dog expert Shaun Ellis to the Show.
A wolf behaviour expert who conducts research in a unique and sometimes controversial way: by living with wolves and becoming part of their world. Believing that living as close to wolves as possible is the best way to understand them, he has in the past immersed himself into wolf society. During the study periods he lives and behaves like them - howling, licking and snarling- even eating and playing alongside them. Shaun is based in the UK at Combe Martin Wildlife Park in North Devon. There he has a resident wolf pack and a trio of wolf cubs that had been abandoned at birth. Shaun spent the following eighteen months living and interacting with the cubs and eventually introducing them to the resident pack. He played the role of alpha male teaching them to howl and how to be wild. This epic experience was filmed and turned into a documentary on both Channel 5 and The National Geographic Channel.

2008 saw Shaun film an eight part series for Animal Planet/US and a two part documentary for the UK Market which was shown on Channel 5. This followed Shaun and his girlfriend observing and monitoring the conception, pregnancy and eventual birth of four wolf cubs. It involved Helen being introduced into the pack as a potential ‘nanny’ role. The series followed all the ups and downs this project involved.
Shaun is keen to investigate the potential future applications for man’s relationship with not only wolves but other species both domestic and wild. He is involved with research projects both in Poland and Idaho USA. A charismatic public speaker who is in great demand on the speaking circuit, Shaun is really a quite unique person. Watch him in the Countryside Ring.
